Horton must protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, and he must also guard an abandoned egg that’s been left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant! Join us for “Newsies Jr.” presented by the talented young artists of Mansfield Youth Theatre on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at 1:00 PM. This high-energy musical, based on the true story of newsboys in turn-of-the-century New York City, follows Jack Kelly and his fellow young workers as they unite against unfair conditions. Through their journey, they discover the strength found in unity, courage, and fighting for what’s right.
Featuring an ensemble cast, dynamic choreography, and powerful storytelling, “Newsies Jr.” highlights the incredible talent and dedication of local youth performers while celebrating themes of perseverance, friendship, and the impact of young voices. Directed by Dauphne Maloney with musical direction by Brian K. Nabors, this production promises an unforgettable experience for audiences of all ages.
