Louis Bromfield’s experience as an ambulance driver attached to the French army during WWI served as an inspiration for his family to return for a visit in 1925, which extended to thirteen years of living in France. Those years shaped Bromfield’s view of the world, and of himself, culminating in his desire to return to his birthplace in Ohio and establish Malabar Farm. Explore with us the furniture, artwork, books and personal mementos of “All Things French” that are part of the collections in the Big House.

Join us for a delightful Barn Dance at Malabar Farm, held in the Main Barn on select Saturdays this summer and fall! Enjoy free admission and live music from the Back Porch Swing Band, starting at 7 PM and rocking until 10 PM. Participants can park at the Visitors’ Center and take a leisurely stroll to join the festivities. Refreshments are available, with water for $1 and soda for $2 (cash only). This event is fun for all skill levels, but please remember that children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
