Renaissance Youth Opera Theatre: Workshop Showcase

The Renaissance Youth Opera Theatre (RYOT) Workshop Showcase highlights the creativity and dedication of young performers as they present fully staged scenes from a variety of musicals and plays.

Through the RYOT workshop program, students in grades 2–12 work closely with professional teaching artists to develop their vocal technique, acting skills, and stage presence. Participants collaborate in small groups, allowing each performer the opportunity to grow individually while gaining valuable experience working as part of an ensemble.

The program is designed to nurture young artists in a supportive and educational environment while helping them build confidence and refine their performance abilities. Workshops are structured for two age groups—grades 2–6 and grades 7–12—ensuring instruction is tailored to the needs and experience of each participant.

The showcase performance offers audiences the chance to see the next generation of performers as they share their hard work and talent on stage.

About the Youth Orchestra

The Mansfield Symphony Youth Orchestra is made up of some of North Central Ohio’s finest musicians, primarily in high school, from a 12-county region. It is the only youth orchestra within a 65 mile radius of Mansfield and represents approximately 90 members each season who perform concerts both onstage at the Renaissance and in the community.

A vital part of the Mansfield Symphony’s Education initiative, the MYSO gives high school students an additional opportunity for musical growth by rehearsing and performing with other student musicians from the area, particularly if their high school is unable to offer a full orchestra experience. By participating in the MSYO program, students get the chance to perform a wide variety of fine orchestral music within a full symphony orchestra.
