« All Events Thursday, May 6, 2027 at 7:00 PM Theatre 166 Mechanics Bank Education Series May 6, 2027 @ 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm The MindSprouts Showcase celebrates the imagination and creativity of young writers from across our community. As part of the Renaissance Theatre’s Mechanics Bank Education Series, the program invites K–12 students to submit original writing in the form of short stories, poems, and plays. Through in-class workshops led by Renaissance Teaching Artist Dauphne Maloney, students explore storytelling, creative expression, and the power of their own voices. Selected student submissions are then adapted for the stage and performed live, giving young writers the unique opportunity to see their words transformed into theatrical performances. The showcase highlights the talent and creativity of the next generation while encouraging students to develop confidence in their ideas and artistic expression. The MindSprouts Showcase is an inspiring celebration of creativity, where the words of young writers come alive through performance, collaboration, and imagination. Students from the Renaissance Theatre’s after-school Improv Underground program take the stage to showcase the skills they’ve developed during six weeks of improvisation classes. Through games, scenes, and quick-thinking challenges, these middle and high school performers demonstrate creativity, confidence, and the art of thinking on their feet. Improv Underground encourages young people to explore storytelling, collaboration, and humor in a supportive environment. Along the way, students build valuable communication skills while discovering the joy of live performance. This one-night-only showcase invites audiences to enjoy unpredictable moments, clever comedy, and plenty of laughs as these young performers bring unscripted scenes to life. Free and open to the public, Improv Underground’s Open Mic Night is a fun opportunity to support emerging talent and experience the excitement of live improv.
